Can You Hear Me Now?

Friday, September 22, 2006

It’s funny…I used to look at the World Trade Center buildings in NYC as such beacons of strength, strongtowers, in every sense of the word. When they collapsed I thought a part of my faith would collapse with them.

I heard a sermon once about faith (okay tons of times but once that really stands out). Anyone worth their muster in Bible-speak knows the definition of FAITH from Hebrews 11:1: “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”

The teacher I listened to talked about how we have such FAITH in so many things on earth. We have FAITH that our brakes will stop us at a red light. We have FAITH that our lights will turn on when we flick the switch. We have FAITH that a gun will stop an intruder and more FAITH that the gun will actually work (as intended) when fired.

We say we have FAITH in God, but do we? Do we believe God is who He says He is and can do what He says He can do? Do we really? Do I believe I am who God says I am?

There are days when my FAITH about my brakes is stronger than my FAITH in God. On those days I have to pray and remember the God of the Bible. The Father who sent His only Son to redeem me…to rescue me from certain death. This is the same God who is my strength. He is my Strongtower.

I heard this song on the way into work this morning and my husband will tell you, I LOVE THIS SONG. It reminds me that even on days when I am weak…like today…even in my faith…He is my STRONGTOWER! And I will praise and worship and BELIEVE Him. Sing that chorus with me today and believe every single word of it…this is OUR God.

When I wander through the desert
And I'm longing for my home
All my dreams have gone astray
When I'm stranded in the valley
And I'm tired and all alone
It seems like I've lost my way
I go running to Your mountain
Where your mercy sets me free

You are my strong tower
Shelter over me
Beautiful and mighty
Everlasting King
You are my strong tower
Fortress when I'm weak
Your name is true and holy
And Your face is all I seek

In the middle of my darkness
In the midst of all my fear
You're my refuge and my hope
When the storm of life is raging
And the thunder's all I hear
You speak softly to my soul

Have a day of FAITH renewed and stand in certainty of the STRONGTOWER surrounding you...who is GOD!

Faith and Trust go hand in hand don't they?

That is a great song. I appreciate you posting the lyrics. I hear the song all the time, but rarely think about the words.

"There are days when my faith about my brakes is stronger than my faith in God."

What a profound statement! I think we've all had those days but isn't it time we ask why? I think I will...

You're so right about the beautiful blue Colorado sky. It is indescribable. My favorite scene around here is dusk when you can see the various layers of the mountains with their different shades and hues of gray. Awesome beauty. Did you live up here at one time?

You would enjoy talking to my DIL. She is a very bright, beautiful young woman who kept things going for many months while our son was gone.

When we really stop and evaluate how we handle our faith, it makes us take a second look, doesn't it? These were really good thoughts on faith today.

I LOVE that song!!! It was one of the songs that we are working on for our praise band to sing eventually!! Great song, great truths! Faith is a hard thing sometimes.

Hey Friend,

A little off topic here...but thanks SO MUCH for the book. I started reading immediately...albeit, interrupted constantly by one of my 3 little blessings. has been very good so far. Definately VERY thought provoking. Anyway, thank you and I will pass it on as soon as I am done. :)))

oh my!

oh my!

God is just unbelievable...really...I know I SHOULD be saying "believable" but I didn't.

I had a most amazing time with God this morning. Truly. It was on almost this precise thing. The strongtower.

Abiding in HIM the strongtower...the I AM.

Being with Him.

That's all it takes really.

Is stopping your brain from doing "your agenda" with God and moving on.

To starting just being IN Him. WITH Him. FOR Him. Tell your brain "shhhhhhh" and be STILL.

Doing this really does bring more Faith/Trust/Belief.

Simply by being in His presence.

How Great Thou Art...

Kim, thank you so much for your transparency...for allowing God to USE YOU and for just being who you are.

P.S. that comment really was more though process than comment...sorry for that...

God used you to confirm much that happened today...

Thank you oh friend, thank you..

(there, was that more understandable? yes i think so too)
